Tell Lawmakers to Save The CCSD Reorganization

We need your help to email lawmakers to save the CCSD Reorganization from a de facto repeal!

SB 460 is being promoted as an education accountability bill, but recent amendments have added language that effectively strips schools and School Organizational Teams (SOTs) of most of their site-based decision-making powers.

Here is a sample email to send to Legislators to Save the CCSD Reorganization.

Here are some of the changes to the CCSD Reorganization under SB 460:

• Repeals the mandate that 85% of all unrestricted dollars must go directly into school budgets—potentially redirecting hundreds of millions of dollars from schools back to CCSD’s central office.
• Repealed entirely all statutory requirements for site-based decision making authority for schools and SOTs 
• Allows CCSD to mandate how schools spend their carryover funds, including on expenses that should be covered by the central office—regardless of objections from the school or SOT.
• Removes the requirement that principals must prioritize hiring a licensed teacher over a long-term substitute.

We must act now. Please contact lawmakers and tell them you oppose the language in SB 460 that dismantles the CCSD Reorganization and strips away your rights as an SOT member.
